HISTORY  THE TOWN OF PURWOREJO

 

            History recordes that the fig wood Ara Hiwang found in the village of Boro Wetan (kecamatan Banyuurip),if the converted with calender is gregoriant date 5,october 901.The inscriptions was found under a tree sono dusun Boro Tengah,now includes the area Boro Wetan kecamatan Banyuurip and since the year 1890 in the save in museum Jakarta National inventory.

 

           On the sultanate of mataram until the 19th century the area is more known as the Bagelen.Current Bagelen even only a sub this kabupaten.after the duchy of bagelen in passing its rulers to the dutch east indies to the kesultanan jogjakarta ,this region join us keresidenan kedu and be kabupaten.

 

           The dutch built a new settlement who in the name is PURWOREJO as the seat of gevernement with the dutch egineer design planning altough it stil takes the element of javanise culture.

 

           However the dutch colonial buildings stil remain lestari to date.like the musque Jami' Purworejo and Regent House.
